🚐 Tiny Home Parking Options That Work

Finding parking isn’t impossible—it just takes some strategy and a little creativity. Here are the most common and realistic options:

1. Tiny Home Communities

These are residential villages designed for people just like you.

  • 🏡 Often offer water, sewer, power hookups, and community spaces

  • ✅ Legal, safe, and often full of like-minded neighbors

2. Private Land (Yours or Someone Else’s)

Buying or leasing land gives you freedom—but zoning matters.

  • 📍 Check for “rural residential,” “agricultural,” or “unincorporated” zones

  • 🛠️ Composting toilets and solar can help avoid septic/electric requirements

  • 🧠 Talk to county officials before placing your home

3. Backyard Parking / ADU Setup

Some areas allow a tiny home as a second dwelling on someone’s property.

  • 🔄 Often called an “Accessory Dwelling Unit” or ADU

  • 🧾 May require permits and code inspections

  • 👥 Great if you have a friend or family member willing to host you

4. Mobile/Trailer Parks (That Allow THOWs)

Not all mobile home parks allow tiny homes, but some do.

  • 🚫 Avoid parks with strict age/model restrictions

  • ✅ Look for ones open to newer, self-contained units

  • 📞 Always call first and be honest about your home type

5. Boondocking / Short-Term Travel

If you're nomadic, this can work short-term with a good setup.

  • 🏕️ BLM land, Harvest Hosts, truck stops, and friend’s driveways

  • 💡 Best for off-grid setups with water, solar, and composting toilet

  • ⏳ Keep it respectful—stay clean, don’t overstay, and leave no trace
